When it comes to Pivot North Valley, Danny Saylors and Sean Donohue can be counted among the school’s biggest fans. These two tenth graders, who are also great friends, love the experience they’ve had at Pivot and credit their success to the staff and educational coordinators they work with each day.

“My mom went to an informational meeting for prospective families, and she was impressed by how much the staff truly cared for their students,” says Danny. “Their desire to see their students succeed was important.”

Both students believe that the flexible schedule, shorter school day and one-on-one attention from educational coordinators have helped them succeed. “Having additional help from teachers has really helped me do better in school,” says Sean, who aspires to be an underwater welder. “I’ve been much happier at Pivot.”

Aside from the support for Educational Coordinators and staff, Sean and Danny also enjoy the multiple field trip opportunities that Pivot North Valley offers to its students, especially the spring trip to Ashland, Oregon.

Danny, who hopes to one day become a surgeon, credits the school’s educational coordinators and staff with helping him work through his dyslexia. “My EC and the support staff have given me the confidence to ask questions and advocate for myself. I know they believe in me and that makes me feel like I can be successful,” says Danny. “Thanks to Pivot North Valley, I’ve grown, overcome challenges, made new friends and I feel good about myself.”
